About James Lowder re Worlds of Their Own and a Couple Mentions of Shadow's Witness

Jim Lowder, editor of Worlds of Their Own, which features (among many other great stories) my short story, "Confession," is interviewed at Flames Rising. It's really an excellent interview and provides a lot of insight into how Jim conceptualized and selected stories for Worlds of Their Own. Click on over and have a read.

Also, Shadow's Witness gets reviewed in either Spanish or Portuguese. I think the reviewer liked it, but I cannot be sure. :-)

And [info]danbuter1 has a couple thoughts on Shadow's Witness, too.

I always wince a bit when folks review Shadow's Witness, since I know it's my least polished work. Generally, it seems to have held up pretty well, in that keeps readers interested enough that most folks continue on with
The Erevis Cale Trilogy, so I suppose that's not all bad. :-)

Thanks for the link to Flames Rising. I think Jeremy did a great job with that interview. Of course, Jim has a lot of cool things to say, so that helped a bit.

Did you hear that Jim won two Origins Awards this weekend as well?

I'm not surprised. Jim is really an extraordinary editor.

Yes, the reviewer did like Shadow's Witness, and the review is in Spanish. He even said that your other books jumped to the front of his summer reading pile after reading Shadow's Witness. I believe he's started on the first trilogy, and anticipates reading the second straight away. He said that since other reviewers (and you) tend to say that both the trilogies are better than Shadow's Witness, then he is sure to love them and that your name on a book would be enough to motivate him to purchase it.

Is December 2nd here yet? :-)

I am the Spanish reviewer (I like to think of the things I write about books more like comments than reviews, though)) of Shadow's Witness you talk about. I'm honoured that you've read my comments about the book.

What anogete says above is all correct. After a couple of other books, I am currently reading Twilight Falling. I went through two thirds of the book in two days, so I guess I'll finish it today. The rest of the trilogy will follow. I particularly enjoyed Riven's bit with the dogs. It was totally unexpected.

I guess I will have to wait till December to read the new one. I tend to like reading trilogies and series in one go.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Excellent. Thanks for posting your thoughts on SW, Cajun, and thanks, too, for stopping by.

I'm guessing more stuff gets cleared up with the Erevis Cale trilogy. I was kinda surprised when he didn't kill Riven. I guess Jak is a bad influence :).

Ah, you've got a whole ride ahead of you with the Cale-Riven relationship. Was SW your first Cale book, Dan, or did you start with the Twilight War?

I started with "The Halls of Stormweather", which your story and Lisa Smedman's "The Maid" were my favorites.
